A self portrait made using a 1920s plate camera owned by Sydney J Gearing, with the assistance of the residents of Apple Blossom Court, as part of Photographs from Another Place. This engagement was part funded by The Elephant Trust.
Apple Blossom Court is a care home in Wallasey providing personal care and support for its residents who have learning disabilities. It is situated in the striking cream and brown Victorian building which was the former Priestley & Sons Photographic Studios. This was the studio that Sydney had his ‘graduation portrait’ taken in 1914 as he left Wallasey Grammar School.
